Asthma
Explanation
One of the common respiratory diseases is Asthma. In this disease, the human respiratory track narrows down and the passage of oxygen is shortened quite regularly after being exposed to cold air, extreme level of exercise, allergy, emotional stress factors. Symptoms of coughing, wheezing, chest tightening and shortening of breath can be observed.
Reasons/Causes
As per the ayurvedic concept, kapha (water) when it’s fully aggravated tends to block the passage of respiratory tract and thus results in shortening of breath and sometimes an aggravated breathing problem in the lungs. If Vata (air) is enlarged or increased intake happens, it’s the kapha, which gets to aggravate internal tissues in the lungs, foods and various other lungs or cardiac diseases. External lifestyle factors such as living in cold atmosphere or consuming cold, stale foods or foods not favorable for digestion and the formation of mucus here, causes breathing problem due to its blockage.
Signs/Symptoms
As like other cardiac attacks, asthma attacks are serious and during which the patients feel hard to breathe, cough, wheeze and chest constriction is very much likely to happen.
Other symptoms, which initiate pain, are coughing, constriction of nostrils, chest pain, wheezing, interrupted speech, and agitation and usually are non-periodic in their occurrence. During nighttime, they are more vulnerable.
Asthma as per Ayurvedic Concept
According to the ayurvedic perspective, the affected digestive system is actually responsible for the cause of the disease. If the digestive system is vitiated, then the hypersensitivity of the body to substances likes dust, pollen grains contributes in asthma attack. Even some remains of mucus (ama) in the tract, blocks the flow of air to the lungs, and results in wheezing and coughing.
Ayurveda advises to restart and rejuvenate new healthy lifestyles and diet system along with consuming herbal medicines. Herbal Medicines to remove Kapha and other toxins and to improve the immune system are recommended.
