Explanation
In the day-to-day stressful life, worry, stress, anxiety, and poor nutrition are some reasons by which hair falls and graying of air. Usually certain amount of air fall is taken as to be perfectly normal as the old hair strands are replaced by the new set of hair follicles. However, if excessive amount of hair falls are observed, medications are must. Similarly, in case of graying gradually along with age is normal. But if the gray starts at very early age, diagnosis is must.
Reasons/Causes
The higher consumption of caffeine products, tea, and spicy, oily and sour, fried and fermented foods leads to the affection of pitta dosha(heat in sanskrit). Pitta dosha is responsible for graying and hair fall. Higher Consumption of alcohol, meat also affects Pitta. Anger and stress factors also contribute in the problem.
Signs/Symptoms
The symptoms are coming off hair while combing, and visible number of gray hair at a very early stage of life. Since the pitta dosha is directly involved, some other signs of pitta dosha that might affect is Nausea, intolerance of heat, sweating, acid stomach.

- Consume leafy vegetables, lots of vegetable juices prepared from vegetables like alfalfa, carrot, capsicum, lettuce etc.
- Avoid using chemical shampoos and oil. Use herbal oils and shampoos.
- Don’t eat heavy, oily, and spicy foods that affect the chance of excess pitta. Avoid coffee and caffeine products.
- Avoid the consumption of alcoholic, carbonated beverages.
Homemade Therapies
- Mix sesame seeds and powdered amla (Indian gooseberry) in equal measures. Have them with one glass of water daily.
- Take one cup of buttermilk, and one cup of curry leaves. Grind the curry leaves, mix with the buttermilk, and apply the mix in the hair. Remove it using herbal shampoo.
- Add 3-4 pieces of Indian gooseberries (amla) and cut it into pieces before adding the piece in a container with 250ml of coconut oil. Heat until the gooseberry turns dark. Apply this hair oil 2-3 times a week.
