Explanation
Infertility is the biological instability of any individual who cannot contribute to conception even after having regular unprotected sex. It also refers to a female who cannot carry a pregnancy to its full term.
Reasons/Causes
Infertility is more like a physical trauma to any couple. Ayurveda says that reproduction depends on the health of Shukra Dhatu which is a reproductive tissue. Health of the Shukra Dhatu also depends on many body tissues. Conception can only take place due to healthy sperm, healthy uterus and healthy ovum. The special branch in Ayurveda to deal with such problems is known as Vajikarana. Shukra Dhatu depends on metabolism, muscle fat, bone marrow and the proper flow of food to nutrient fluid.In women, infertility is affected by the following factors - damage to the fallopian tubes, ovulatory problems and other conditions affecting the uterus. Other factors may include age, the female fertility rate decreases after 30, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, medical conditions like diabetes, thyroid problems, gynaecological factors and other lifestyle factors.
Infertility in men is resulted by low sperm count or quality, problems in getting an erection, problems in ejaculating the sperms, damage to the tubes which carries sperm. Other factors include the inflammation of testes, medical treatments like drug treatment, radio therapy or surgery, genetic problems or medical issues like diabetes and other lifestyle factors like overweight and all.

Homemade Therapies
Banyan tree roots are considered to be very effective to treat infertility in women. Dry 2-3 long piece of banyan roots and grind it in sun. Mix the powder with a glass of milk and consume in empty stomach. Avoid during menstruation cycle.
Chaste Berry is another herb which is used by women to treat infertility.
Take some blackberry leaves and grind it to make a paste with water. Add honey to the paste and consume the paste daily. It helps in treating female infertility.
Aloe is recommended for both men and women.
Herbs like triphala, velvet bean and Ashwagandha are very effective.

- Whole grains and healthy fats are essential with an occasional bowl of ice cream and dairy products.
- Tran’s fats should be avoided.
- Replace the consumption of meat with beans, peas, soybeans and nuts to improve fertility.
- Whole vegetables and whole fruits are advisable.
- Start taking folic acid.
- Saffron and ginger helps to balance the menstruation cycle.
- Supplements like Indian gooseberry which acts as a rejuvenator and Manjistha which is a root extract helping in purifying of blood.
- Avoid excess of coffee, tea, alcohol; shift to hydrated water.
- Keep a check on your weight. Overweight can sometimes hamper fertility.
- Daily exercise but not in an excessive rate.
- Stress should be avoided.
- Use of lubricants should be avoided.
- Consumption of egg plant with buttermilk for a period of 2 months.
- Women should avoid supplements with melatonin.
- Smoking can cause infertility.
