Kidney Stone
Explanation
Kidney stone is also known as renal calculus which is formed due to solid concentration in the kidneys due to dietary minerals present in the urine due to dehydration. They leave the body through the urinary system but some of them tends to grow in size and cannot leave the system due to the obstruction in ureter. These stones which continue to grow in the body can result in severe pain and sometimes obstructs the path of urine.

Some of the common causes of Kidney Stones include:
Signs/Symptoms
Symptoms results when the kidney stone moves to the ureter which results in a severe pain in the groin area. It results in a burning sensation while urinating and sometimes blood and pus which is the white blood cells comes out while urinating. The pain may result in nausea and vomiting. The urge to urinate increases but the amount of excreted urine reduces. It may result in infection which causes fever and chills.

Kidney stones are popularly known as Vrukka Ashmari in Ayurveda. - Excessive acidic environment.
- Addition of fluoride in drinking water.

- Select a diet which is low in salt and animal proteins.
- A safe distance should be maintained from too much of pickle, alcoholic drinks and beverages, meat, vegetables like tomatoes, radish, onion, cabbageand asparagus.
- Consumption of too much of Calcium rich foods like spinach, beet, almonds, bread, coconut, Bengal gram should be restricted.
- 2-3 glasses of lemon juice on a daily basis are advisable along with 1 to 2 litres of water.
- A glass of watermelon juice or tomato juice with salt and pepper is quite effective.
- Juice extracted from the stem of the banana plant is also effective.
Homemade Therapies
- Basil leaves known as Tulsi works very effectively for all kidney related problems. One teaspoon of the juice from basil leaves mixed with one teaspoon of honey helps in flushing out of the kidney stones.
- Boil two figs in a cup of normal water and drink it in empty stomach in early morning.
- Kidney beans are helpful in the treatment of kidney stones. After removing the seeds from the pods slice the pods in water then boil it for an hour till the pods turns soft and tender. After straining the liquid allow it to cool and then drink the liquid to get relief from kidney stones.
