Osteoarthritis as per Ayurvedic Concept
Osteoarthritis in ayurvedic is well-known as ‘Sandhivata’ . The word ‘Sandhi’ stands for the joint and the word ‘Vata’ stands for Vata Dosha. Vata means air or wind that governs all movements of body and mind. When the ‘vata’ activity is increased as it is dry in nature, it observes the fluid of cartilage in between the joints and it leads to Osteoarthritis .This may also lead to damage in the cartilages by lowering the Synovial Fluid in the joint capsule as rise in Vata activity can be catabolic in nature. The treatment in ayurveda for osteoarthritis can rejuvenate the braked down cartilage and can also prevent future deterioration in joints.
