Piles
Explanation
One of the most painful health disorders in Piles or Hemorrhoids.Piles are the swollen veins of the anal passage. The burning sensation maybe felt either in the internal or external parts of the anus. Piles are generally related with hard stool, problems in digestion, constipation and the stool may or may not bleed or remain dry. However, internal piles bleed a lot more than the external, as the veins crack regularly in internal.
Reasons/Causes
Piles maybe caused as a result of poor leading of lifestyle, which leads to impairment and gives birth to all the three doshas. However, Vata (air) is the main of the three doshas involved in resulting Piles, because Vata initiates in regular indigestion and constipation and as we discussed earlier, constipation is a main reason for the cause of Piles problems. Collection of wastes and veins of varicose at rectum also help in development of piles. Other factors like, suppressing natural urges, coughing, overindulgence in intercourse, repeated abortions, constipation, sitting for long hours, obesity, having alcoholic beverage, uncooked or spicy food, little exercise, and consuming non vegetarian foods also causes piles.
Signs/Symptoms
Piles itself is a major symptom along with the feel of irritability, itching, discomfort near the anus region. Aggravated Pitta Dosha results in bleeding. A pea sized swelling can be seen near anus, in case of external piles. Bleeding and pain can be felt during defacement.
Piles as per Ayurvedic Concept
As per Ayurveda, Pitta doshas leads to the vitiation and damages the digestive flow. Pitta (heat) is responsible for the lowering of both digestive (jatharagni) as well as in production of toxins (ama) in the digestive tract. As the toxins spread, the digestive system gets hampered and causes irregular flatulence, diarrhea leading to the affecting of Vata Dosha. Affected Vata Dosha hence, regulates raktarsha (bleeding piles) or hemorrhoids in Ayurvedic science.
