Shoulder Dislocation/Labral Repair
What is Shoulder Dislocations and Instability?
One of the joints in our body that tends to suffer from dislocation frequently is our shoulder joint. It occurs as the upper arm bone comes out of the joint. Typical dislocations are treated by means of placing the shoulder back into position and putting on a sling to immobilize it.
Occasionally surgery is required tom resolve major dislocations. Once dislocated shoulder will tend to get dislocated again, this is known as unstable shoulder. This basically occurs as a result of the capsule holding the shoulder, is now widened after the first dislocation. This makes the shoulder unstable. This is mostly resolved by non-operative treatment, but if it doesn’t helps, surgery is recommended. Arthroscopic surgery can be done to resolve the damage done to it, with effectiveness. This is done by means of attaching the torn labrum and tightening the capsule lining joint.
