Hyperacidity
Explanation
In our body, if the desiredamount of acid gets increased, this leads to hyperacidity. Human stomach secretes the strong hydrochloric acid, which is responsible for enabling digestion as a form of small particles. However, if the quantity of the acid level is increased in a higher rate, this condition is called hyperacidity.
Reasons/Causes
As per Ayurveda, the main reason for the cultivation of hyperacidity is Pitta dosha. As per Ayurveda, Pitta stands for fire or heat. There are various other causes for the cause of Pitta doshas they are as follows,

Hyperacidity as per Ayurvedic Concept
In the language of Ayurveda, the case of hyperacidity can be classified as Amal Pitta. The combination of excessive heat and sour gives the rise of hyperacidity. As from the term, Amal means sour and pitta means heat. Hence, Pitta Dosha, when affected damages the digestive systems and this leads to the problem of indigestion and cultivation of toxins or ama. These toxins or ama, accumulated in the digestive channels causes hyperacidity.
Ayurvedic medication of hyperacidity primarily focuses on the removal and control of pitta dosha and the accumulated toxins. Herbs with medicinal values are recommended for the removal of toxins and repairing the body channels. Thus, the digestive system is once again restored and back to normal.

- Consuming Non-complementing foods like having fish-milk or salt-milk like combination. These foods separately don’t complement each other.

- Smoking, consuming alcohol, tea, coffee at an excessively leads to hyperacidity.
- Suffering from indigestion and consuming food at that time.
- On urine and stool suppression.
- Sleeping after having lunch
- Sleeping very late at night
- Gastro duodenal ulcer formation
- Long-time exposure to heat
- Stress and anger factors
Signs/Symptoms
The general hyperacidity symptoms are as follows,
- Feel of restlessness
- Feel of nauseating (sensation of vomiting) and vomiting.
- Sour after feel of the last consumed food product
- Lack of hunger
- Constipation
- Indigestion
- Stiffness and pain in stomach

- Do not consume carbonated, caffeine and alcoholic beverages.
- Don’t have processed and packed fermented food
- Avoid the inclusion of ginger, garlic, onion, vinegar, and tomatoes while cooking.
- Avoid spicy gravy foods in as a whole
- Avoid having curd during night
- Have meals at regular intervals and under a healthy atmosphere.
- Perform regular yoga postures, Pranayama such as Salabhasana, Vajrasana, Bhujangasana, Shitkari Pranayama, Bhastrika Pranayama and Shital Pranayama.
Homemade Therapies
- Mix together basil leaves, coriander, fennel, licorice root, all in same parts and have it with half teaspoon of rock candy just quarter an hour before lunch and dinner
- Have small amount of Jiggery after lunch and dinner until getting cured
- In case of heartburn, take a glass containing cold milk; mix it with equal parts of cardamom, rock candy, and fennel.
